Não filmava desde 2003, e essa despedida não foi de todo memorável [“The Life of David Gale”], mas não deixemos que isso faça-nos menosprezar a sua obra que atravessou alguns períodos bem vincados. Contudo, fora dos óbvios “Midnight Express” e do “Mississippi Burning”, levo comigo três filmes, algo esquecidos, que, abordam sobretudo, a diversidade do realizador Alan Parker.
O literalmente “faz-de-conta” “Bugsy Malone” (1976), a sua primeira longa-metragem (se não contarmos com o projeto televisivo de “The Evacuues”), o thriller com Mickey Rourke à cabeça (em tempos de galã) e um infernal Robert De Niro - “Angel Heart” (1987) - e por fim, aquele que mais aprecio da sua obra, “The Commitments” (1991), um caso à beira do sucesso de um improvisado grupo musical.
